Our Final FBF Giveaway – An Awesome Summer Grab Bag!

You read that right – it’s Free Book Friday’s LAST week of giveaways. *SIGH* But we do have a special message for you from FBF Founder Jessica Brody. So put on your reading glasses, buckle up, and scroll down for more…

Back in 2008, I posted a giveaway on my website, offering up free signed copies of my first novel, THE FIDELITY FILES. The response to the giveaway was so incredible, I thought, “hey, why not do a signed book giveaway every week?” And Free Book Friday was born. I launched a dedicated site a few months later and the site continued to grow and expand from there. Eventually, it got too big for me to handle on my own and I brought on help — the amazingly talented Christina Diaz, who has been faithfully and brilliantly running the site for more than seven years. Now, sadly, we have come to the decision to close the site permanently.

In an appropriate “bookend” to this fun experiment, my latest novel, IN SOME OTHER LIFE, will be one of the final featured giveaways on the site this week! It’s been an honor to be part of this amazing project and to give books away to readers every single week. Since opening, we’ve given away more than 5,000 free books. That’s an accomplishment I will always be proud of. I hope you’ve enjoyed the journey as much as we have. And please never, ever stop reading.

– Jessica, FBF Founder

So, this is it. Sadly but proudly, we’ve combed our FBF Library one last time and have chosen 5 amazing titles for you, our dedicated readers. PLUS, once more, we’re including an FBF Swag Pack (Postcard, Book plate, Bookmark, and Pen) with each copy! So keep scrolling to read up on what we have in store on our final week. And Good Luck to all!

Time Between Us by Tamara Ireland Stone

Young Adult

Anna and Bennett were never supposed to meet: she lives in 1995 Chicago and he lives in 2012 San Francisco. But Bennett’s unique ability to travel through time and space brings him into Anna’s life, and with him, a new world of adventure and possibility. As their relationship deepens, they face the reality that time might knock Bennett back where he belongs, even as a devastating crisis throws everything they believe into question. Against a ticking clock, Anna and Bennett are forced to ask themselves how far they can push the bounds of fate—and what consequences they can bear in order to stay together.

The Sixty-Eight Rooms by Marianne Malone

Middle Grade

Almost everybody who has grown up in Chicago knows about the Thorne Rooms. Housed in the Children’s Galleries of the Chicago Art Institute, they are a collection of 68 exquisitely crafted miniature rooms made in the 1930s by Mrs. James Ward Thorne. Each of the 68 rooms is designed in the style of a different historic period, and every detail is perfect, from the knobs on the doors to the candles in the candlesticks. Some might even say, the rooms are magic.

Imagine—what if you discovered a key that allowed you to shrink so that you were small enough to sneak inside and explore the rooms’ secrets? What if you discovered that others had done so before you? And that someone had left something important behind?

A Family After All by Kathy Altman

He wants forever. She wants right now.

Ivy Millbrook isn’t interested in happily-ever-after. The only thing she wants from Seth Walker is no-strings-attached fun. Too bad Seth is holding out for the white picket fence. As a single father of two, he is the epitome of commitment and the complete opposite of Ivy. They’re at a standstill.

The situation intensifies when Seth insists on helping Ivy save her dairy farm. With the kids in tow, working together isn’t easy. But is the prospect of losing each other forever enough to push them toward a compromise?

How to Make An American Quilt by Whitney Otto

An extraordinary and moving novel, How to Make an American Quilt is an exploration of women of yesterday and today, who join together in a uniquely female experience. As they gather year after year, their stories, their wisdom, their lives, form the pattern from which all of us draw warmth and comfort for ourselves… The inspiration for the major motion picture featuring Winona Ryder, Anne Bancroft, Ellen Burstyn, and Maya Angelou!

This Is Not A Book by Keri Smith

From the internationally bestselling creator of Wreck This Journal, a curious, engaging, and creative rethinking of all the different things a book can be.

In this uniquely skewed look at the purpose and function of a “book”, Keri Smith offers an illustrated guide that challenges readers to creatively examine all the different ways This Is Not a Book can be used. With intriguing prompts, readers will discover that the book can be: A secret message—tear out a page, write a note on it for a stranger, and leave it in a public place; A recording device—have everyone you contact today write their name in the book; An instrument—create as many sounds as you can using the book, like flipping the pages fast or slapping the coverThis Is Not a Book forces you to ask, “If it’s not a book, what is it then?”—with a kaleidoscope of possible answers.
