L.A. homicide detective Jack Rivera has a killer body, a wicked smile, and a velvet touch. Just ask Christina McMullen. The cocktail-waitress-turned-psychologist has handled obsessed patients, love-struck drunks, and her own guilt-tripping mother with aplomb. But when it comes to the lieutenant, Chrissy has an old-fashioned case of irresistible attraction—until things turn fatal when Rivera is accused of murder!
Not only was Rivera found unconscious next to a dead woman, but the victim was his beautiful ex-girlfriend—who left Rivera for his wealthy dad. Chrissy detects a few father-and-son issues—along with plenty of evidence that her would-be boyfriend is guilty. But when she starts looking into the dead woman’s past, a rich senator’s connections, and Rivera’s relationship with his mother, will she discover there’s hope for her and Rivera after all? Or will her curiosity have deadly consequences?
Exclusive interview with the author:
1) If you could have one super power what would it be?
My super power would be Brain Dumping. I’d have a cape…of course…and a leotard with a bright red BD on the front (for Brain Dumper) The costume would come with four inch heels in which I could run like a gazelle…if I wanted to, but of course I wouldn’t because running sucks. But back to the issue at hand. As THE BRAIN DUMPER I’d be able to write a story in my head, fill in the details, flesh out the characters, polish the plot and dump the entire story onto the page without all that pesky typing, editing, and well…general thinking.
2) Desert Island time. You can bring one person and one thing. What would you bring?
I’d bring my daughter. She’d be really pissed, but I’d bring her anyway. I’d also take along tons of high calorie food so she’d be too busy eating to take her anger out on me. The girl can eat like a road mender and never gain a pound. The world…as you may know…is patently unfair.
3) Who’s your favorite character in the book and why? Who was the most fun to write?
Christina McMullen is my favorite. She’s quirky and crazy and loopy and smart. All the things I am…except maybe that smart thing.
4) What’s your strangest writing quirk or habit? Something that would make all of us go, “huh?”
I write standing up. It’s weird. But it gives me the opportunity to pace and stomp and flex…and of course to trot downstairs for a snack about every ten seconds.
5) What’s up next for you?
Unhinged, the 9th book in my Chrissy McMullen series, will be released on March 16, 2017. She’s having her usual trouble with crazy clients, beautiful beaus, and *ucked up family.
