Christmas Brides by Valerie Bowman

5 autographed copies will be given away on Friday, December 12, 2014.

Oliver Townsende intends to avoid the hordes of marriage-minded misses at a friend’s holiday party. When he meets Miss Cerian Blake, who’s dodging her own unwanted set of admirers, the two decide to join forces and fake an infatuation to keep their suitors at bay. But when mistletoe becomes involved, will their Christmastime prank turn into a love to last all seasons?

Exclusive interview with the author:

1) What was your favorite book growing up and why?

I have two favorites. First, Laura Ingalls Wilder’s These Happy Golden Years. I must have read it dozens of times. It was my very first historical romance novel. My other favorite is The Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I absolutely LOVE redemption stories and that is one of the best!

2) At what time of the day do you feel the most creative?

I’d love to say it’s in the morning but the truth is, I’m a night owl. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and have an idea for my story that I just have to write right away.

3) What book are you currently reading or what was the last book you read?

I’m currently reading Anne Barton’s Scandalous Summer Nights and I’m loving it! She is one of my favorite historical romance authors.

4) Which authors/books are you most influenced by?

This is a difficult one to answer but I’d say definitely Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer, Judith McNaught, and Lisa Kleypas are my top 4 favorites!

5) What’s up next for you?

The second book in my Playful Brides series, The Accidental Countess, just came out in November, and the next one, The Unlikely Lady, comes out in May 2015. I’m writing book 4, The Irresistible Rogue right now and having the best time! It’s a Regency-set take on The Philadelphia Story.
